Google announced a new Android television product on Monday, but it won’t be made available for purchase until at least January 2018.
The product, dubbed the Android TV X8, was unveiled at the company’s Google I/O developer conference in San Francisco.
The device will have the same specs as Google’s Android TV 4, but will come with a new firmware update to enable support for HDR content.
The company also said it plans to release a new version of the Android television operating system sometime in January.
Android TV’s hardware has been criticized by some in the media for lacking the kind of features that consumers want from their Android TV.
Google has also struggled to get developers to support the platform, with the company only recently working with a handful of developers on Android TV platform software.
